Key researched ingredients include L-glutamine, arabinogalactan, astragalus root, BENEGUT^® perilla leaf extract and deglycyrrhizinated licorice (DGL) root extract. L-glutamine is a conditionally essential amino acid produced by the body with extensive research on its role in gastrointestinal and immune health. Arabinogalactan, a prebiotic fiber found in high concentrations in North American larch trees, has been researched for its role in increasing the concentration of beneficial bacteria, such as Bacteroidetes and Faecalibacterium prausnitzii. Astragalus root extract is classified as an adaptogen which supports mental and physical resistance to stress as well as immune cell activity and function. Adaptogens like astragalus support physiological and cellular homeostasis and have positive effects on immune function and antioxidant defenses. BENEGUT^® perilla leaf extract, a water extraction of Perilla frutescens leaves, contains a special flavanoid fraction, along with naturally occurring Vicenin-2 and rosmarinic acid compounds. Deglycyrrhizinated licorice (DGL) root extract is also included and researched for its role in maintaining intestinal comfort.
