- Spore-based probiotics are true to the “probiotics” definition in that they contain live microorganisms but in spore form.
- Unlike typical live probiotics, spore-based Bacillus probiotics’ rugged endospore coating offers protection that provides survival through stomach acid, bile salts, and enzymes in the gastrointestinal tract.
- After enduring the harsh digestive environment, spores reach the gut, transform back into their live form, and resume their digestive, metabolic, and immune-supportive activities.
- Once Bacillus probiotic spores activate and begin colonizing the intestine, they instinctively detect any overpopulated nonbeneficial bacteria, a process called “quorum sensing.” As pathogens are identified, the Bacillus probiotic bacteria compete with them and crowd them out.

Start with 1/2 capsule or 1 full capsule with food and slowly increase to 2 capsules per day using the following protocol: Week 1: 1 capsule every other day. Week 2: 1 capsule daily. Week 3+: 2 capsules daily. If 1 capsule every other day causes side effects, try starting with 1/2 capsule or even 1/4 capsule in some cases. Possible side effects may include abdominal cramping, loose stools, and changes in bowel movements. Though these side effects may be uncomfortable, they are a sign that the product is working. Side effects should resolve within 2-3 days.
